Enphase IQ Battery 5P: how long will it run my house?
From the maker's own datasheet, read November 2026. Backup times divide usable energy by your average load.
Short answer
The Enphase IQ Battery 5P stores 5 kWh you can use and supplies 3.84 kW continuously, starting motors up to 48 A locked-rotor current. At a 1 kW average load one unit lasts about 5 h 0 min; at 3 kW, about 1 h 40 min.
Backup time at an average load
| Average load | One unit | Two units |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 kW | 10 h 0 min | 20 h 0 min |
| 1 kW | 5 h 0 min | 10 h 0 min |
| 1.5 kW | 3 h 20 min | 6 h 40 min |
| 2 kW | 2 h 30 min | 5 h 0 min |
| 3 kW | 1 h 40 min | 3 h 20 min |
| 5 kW | Over its 3.84 kW | 2 h 0 min |
| Fridge only (64 W average) | 3.3 days | 6.5 days |
hours = 5 kWh ÷ average kW
Your average load is your daily kWh ÷ 24; the home battery backup calculator works it out from your bill and checks your peak load and air conditioner too.
Will it start my air conditioner?
The maker rates it to start motors drawing up to 48 A locked-rotor current (LRA). Your AC's LRA is on the outdoor unit's nameplate; if it's higher, the battery may not start it; ask the installer what they recommend.
